Djúpivogur Camping Ground

Djúpivogur has a fine camping place in midtown with all basic services within the span of 500 meters. The village offers various recreational possibilities, e.g. a new swimming pool, a 9 hole golf course, interesting museums, and walking trails. A trip to nearby Papey by boat is a tempting option in summer.

The campsite has a great view over the harbor. All service in the town is within 500 meters from the campsite. There is a lot to do in the area. A new swimming pool is in the town, good 9 hole golf course, many walking paths and also the possibility to go sailing to the island Papey.

The service for the campsite is at Hotel Framtíð.

East Iceland

Towns & Villages

Each town in East Iceland has its own characteristics. In some of the coastal villages the influence of North European neighbours is obvious to everyone.

The French made a strong impact in Fáskrúðsfjörður where the road signs are made out in French as well as in Icelandic. Norwegian influence is easily detected in the Eskifjörður and Seydisfjörður architecture. No such roots are to be seen in Egilsstadir which is latest addition to East Iceland agglomeration, founded in the late forties of the 20th century.
