Adventura ehf.

Our business is a family one; we prefer having just a small operation. All we rent out is two rooms in our home and only to one party at a time, so you are sure to be our sole guests. However, your party can include up to five people, since we offer two rooms, one with a double bed or two singles, the other with a single and a double bed or two singles. These rooms share a bathroom.

Our goal is ensuring personal attention, as well as service of the highest standard. Included in our price is a traditional Icelandic breakfast. For the evening meal - also traditionally Icelandic - you have the option of joining the family. The menu also follows custom, insofar as possible keeping to the season and proudly using local ingredients.

For nature lovers, we offer customized, informative tours with a guide to help you get the most out of local birds, seals, and reindeer. Such trips will usually provide you with excellent chances for photographs. The northern lights (aurora borealis) are among our planet's most splendid phenomena. Since our house is far from city lights - and for that matter, almost any other artificial lighting - the location is first-class for viewing them. Hunters staying here are able to choose among several types of game and other options.

The location is convenient: near Ring Road No. 1 and only about 4 kilometers from the nearest village, Djúpivogur. Not least, our house stands just a few meters from the pristine waters of Hamarsfjörður fjord and offers fantastic views of the ocean. Just watching from our porch, you can observe seabirds and even occasional seals and harbor porpoises.

Black Sands

Iceland is one of the few countries in the world where the beaches usually feature black sand. This dramatic, beautiful characteristic of the landscape also indicates the volcanic nature of this gorgeous island.

Nature walk

An ideal walk for those interested in local culture and history, as well as the wildlife and other nature.

History tour

As the title implies, the focus is on Djúpivogur and its surroundings, including important history as well as folktales and local stories.

For hunters, we offer adventurous game such as the Arctic fox - with traditional bait in the wintertime - and reindeer hunting during the legal season in July to September. For more information on any of these adventures, please feel free to contact us.

Customised tours

We will be happy to consult individually with you or your group in order to arrange personally guided tours which may, for instance, include watching birds and/or seals. These trips normally provide exciting photo opportunities.

Towns & Villages

Each town in Austurland has its own characteristics. In some of the coastal villages t, the influence of North European neighbors obvious to everyone.

The French made a strong impact in Fáskrúðsfjörður where the road signs are made out in French as well as in Icelandic. Norwegian influence is easily detected in the Eskifjörður and Seydisfjörður architecture. No such roots are to be seen in Egilsstadir which is the latest addition to East Iceland agglomeration, founded in the late forties of the 20th century.
