Hvað er Áfangastaðaáætlun Austurlands?

Áfangastaðaáætlun er leiðarvísir að þróun áfangastaðarins Austurlands. Í henni er greint hvaða aðgerðir geta stuðlað að því að ná settum markmiðum um sjálfbæra ferðaþjónustu og jákvæð áhrif hennar á samfélag og umhverfi. Til að þessi markmið náist er nauðsynlegt að virkt samstarf sé á milli sveitarfélaga, fyrirtækja, íbúa og annarra hagsmunaaðila á svæðinu.
Áætlunin byggir á greiningu á stöðu ferðaþjónustu, innviða, aðgengis, náttúruverndar og menningar, og setur fram markmið og aðgerðir til að styrkja Austurland sem áfangastað allt árið um kring. Lögð er áhersla á jafnvægi milli atvinnusköpunar, verndun náttúru og lífsgæði íbúa, auk þess að dreifa álagi og auka gæði upplifunar ferðamanna.
Áfangastaðaáætlun er endurskoðuð árlega, þar sem forgangsröðun aðgerða fer fram í samræmi við stöðu og þróun áfangastaðarins.
Áfangastaðaáætlun Austurlands 2026-2029 tekur mið af aðgerðaráætlun og áherslum frá árunum 2022-2025 og styður við framtíðarsýn um Austurland sem eftirsóknarverðan, sjálfbæran og fjölbreyttan áfangastað allt árið.
