Hammond Music Festival

Honorary Hammond

The Hammond Festival in Djúpivogur was first held in 2006 and is, therefore, one of Iceland's oldest music festivals. The main purpose of the festival is to honor the Hammond organ. The festival takes place on the first day of summer each year which always falls on a Thursday, with the festival running throughout the weekend. The first night of the festival is dedicated to Eastern Icelandic musicians where perhaps less known artists get a chance to shine. On Friday and Saturday, more known Icelandic bands take the stage and perform their music to locals and traveling festival guests. Sunday marks the end point of the festival, where traditionally a lone singer performs in the Church of Djúpivogur under the sweet sounds of the Hammond.
