Nestled in the mountainous landscape of the Eastfjords, Seyðisfjörður is a true gem of a town with colorful little houses and a vibrant arts community. It was the site of the internationally acclaimed television series Trapped, showing its ominous side in the middle of winter. In the summer the town is alive with cultural events, and when the Norröna ferry docks every week it is transformed into the smallest metropolis in the world.
The Seyðisfjörður HI Hostel is located in two different but equally charming historic houses; Hafaldan Harbour and Hafaldan old Hospital.
Hafaldan Harbour Hostel was established in 1975 and nestles on the north side of the Seyðisfjörður fjord with an amazing view from the dining area. Rooms are small & cozy with washbasin in every room. Very authentic hostel with a lot of charm. Ideal for those who seek basic & budget accommodation.
Hafaldan old Hospital is located in the town's center in the historic former hospital building. The building has been under constant renovation for the last years and is without a doubt one of Iceland's most charming hostels with beautiful interior design. The newest pride is the little basements "SPA" where guests can enjoy a Sauna & relax after a busy sightseeing day. The hostel offers a variety of different rooms both with private and shared bathrooms.
Both hostels offer very good common facilities. Self Catering Kitchen, Laundry facilities & Free Wi-Fi. Bookings allocated to either building can be done through our website directly or through the Hostelling International website.
We look forward to seeing you in Seydisfjordur!
