Baugur Bjólfs
High above Seyðisfjörður, where legend says the Viking settler Bjólfi was laid to rest, stands Baugur Bjólfs. A circular viewpoint inspired by the history, nature and landscape of the area. The circular form draws inspiration from the story of Bjólfi and his legendary silver ring, connecting an ancient story with simple, contemporary design.
From the viewpoint, a 360° panorama opens across Seyðisfjörður, the town, surrounding mountains and valleys. Part of the ring extends out over the mountainside, creating the sensation of floating above the landscape. It is a place to walk the circle, sit down, pause and take in the vast scenery.
Access: A gravel road leads to the main parking area, and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. From the parking area, it is approximately a 15-minute walk to the viewing platform (1,2 km). Visitors with disabilities can drive all the way to the viewpoint, where a designated accessible parking space is available. Road and weather conditions should always be checked before heading up, as conditions on the mountain can change quickly.
