Landing Craft Mechanized

At the head of Mjóifjörður lies an American LCM landing craft. It was used to transport equipment and vehicles, and later to carry herring waste from Mjóifjörður to Norðfjörður.

In 1966, the landing craft was brought ashore and has remained there ever since.
