Want to hear your own music on vinyl?
On September 13th, artists-in-residence Katie Haegele and Joe Carlough of Consonant Collective will set up their homemade record-making machine and will create 7” vinyl records live on site at Skriðuklaustur. Please come watch the process in action, and take with you a record of their work, comprised either of field recordings and poetry they made in the woods of Hallormsstaðaskógur or the sounds of the sheep round-up "réttir", or your own music.
Please note, if you would like your own music to be cut onto a record, bring an mp3 or wav file of no more than 5 minutes that you can either airdrop or email to the collective at joe@consonantcollective.com.
Katie and Joe will also explain how the process works, and can give a brief history of record making and the machines involved.
The record machine will be set up from 1pm to 4pm, and you can enjoy lunch in the Klausturkaffi beforehand, or tea and cakes after.
