Hallormsstaður National Forest is perfect for outdoor activities, whether it be horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, ATV-touring or just relaxing at the campsite by the Lagarfljót lake. Hallormsstaður is Iceland's largest forest, covering over 740 hectares. Loose track of time in the Arboretum, unique in Iceland, with with over 80 tree species from all over the world or go on an adventure on one of many hiking routes. Be on the lookout for the Wyrm of Lagarfljót lake, the mythical creature said to inhabit the lake.

The picturesque Hengifoss waterfall attracts thousands of guests every year and for a good reason. After taking in the magnificent view of one of Iceland's tallest waterfalls, enjoy a hearty meal and traditional Icelandic cakes at Klausturkaffi Café at Skriðuklaustur.
