Visiting an eiderdown farm. We invite you to visit our farm-takes for about 3 hrs. Guests learn how the eider ducks live and nest, and how the eiderdown is cleaned. Guests can examine how eiderdown is processed through various stages until it is put into quilts and pillows. Trips twice weekly from 25 May until 3 July. It is necessary to book ahead-see the phone number and email address to the right. We take an easy walk around the living and nesting areas of the eider ducks with guides who are eider farmers at Ytri-Nýpur. Our guests have the opportunity of seeing how this wild bird is protected and cared for so that it feels comfortable. Also are other birds in the nesting area. It is crucial to walk carefully and listen carefully to the guide throughout the walk. The visit to the farm‘s down-cleaning building where you will have the opportunity to inspect and feel the eiderdown in various stages of the cleaning process and also to see samples of completed products. Guests are invited to the „down-farmers‘ guestroom“ next door to enjoy light refreshments. In the guest room are items connected with farming in the last years. Total time of visit about 3 hours. Stóra-Sandfell Travel Service
The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell is located 17 km. south of Egilsstaðir, by highway 95. When driving over the road called Öxi (which is the shortest route) or Breiðdalsheiði, the roads lie between Höfn and Egilsstaðir. At our facilities we offer many different types of accomodations, cottages, rooms or at our campsite. We also offer horseriding tours through Sandfell‘s forest and nearby. Many lovely hiking trails are in the area. Our accomodations are close to all of the major tourist-attractions in the Eastern Fjords. The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell has been run by the same family for 30 years and combines experience with eastern hospitality. We put emphasis on having a good and personal contact with our all guests and want to make sure they will be able to enjoy themselves in a beautiful and relaxing enviroment, surrounded by Icelandic nature. We do offer 10 cottages, of different types, but all are build for 2-4 persons. All of them do have a private kitchenette and access to a gas grill. Six of the cottages have private bathrooms but the other four share a bathhouse together. The 3 rooms each have a private enterence and a small private bathroom. All rooms share a kitchen and all have access to a gas grill. The campsite is surounded by the old birch forest and is ideal for families or induviduals with tents or campers. On the site there are dining benches, making it comfortable to eat outside in the nature. A small stream goes through the campsite and is perfect for the younger members of the family to make a splash in. In the restrooms we have toilets, showers and outdoor sinks with cold and hot water. All of the horseriding tours are monitored by a guide. We always try to make sure we find a horse that suits each and every rider well. Before each trip we go over all safety rules and do some practice rounds inside a fence. There is no fixed time for the riding tours, so all tours are planned individually. The minimum number of riders is 2 for each trip and the maximum is 10 riders. Fjalladýrð
At Fjalladýrð Tourist Services, we provide our guests with the chance to experience traditional food, culture, and accommodation in peaceful surroundings. On our premises you will find a variety of nature walks and other forms of outdoor recreation. The Fjalladýrð team is conscious about the environment and we try to meet all the environmental challenges running a tourist service constitutes. We offer personal service, with the goal of allowing our customers to get closer to their origins. We work to achieve this by offering homemade food, traditional Icelandic rural culture and further recreation options tailored to the interests of each group or person. Fjalladýrð offers accommodation for up to 70 people in rooms with dressed beds and private or shared facilities. A well serviced camping ground is also at hand. The restaurant/café Fjallakaffi - "The Mountain Café" awaits you with homemade delicacies like "kleinur" and "Ástarpungar" - Icelandic doughnuts treats, not to mention the renowned Icelandic lamb meat soup, Icelandic moss-soup, local trout, and a local lamb steak. All this and more to be found on our menu. Möðrudalur is the highest settled farm in Iceland, 469 meters ( 1548 feet) above sea-level. It has been inhabited since early settlement in Iceland. Möðrudalur has served as a presbytery for centuries. The builder of the church in Möðrudalur was Jón A. Stefánsson (1880 - 1971). He was a great farmer as well as an artist and the altarpiece is made by himself. His son was Stefán ,,Stórval" Jónsson (1908 - 1994), a one of a kind character and a painter. The panorama view from the farm is interesting in many ways - judge for yourself. For campers, and RVs we offer stays throughout the year depending on weather. Last but not least we sell Icelandic woolens and handicrafts made by local people as well as some snacks.

Bragdavellir Cottages
Bragdavellir - Cottages and a restaurant in Hamarsfjordur Bragdavellir Cottages At Bragdavelldir in Hamarsfjordur, east Iceland, we offer accommodation in 2-8 person cottages. The houses are equipped with all the essentials needed for a good rest and a nice stay. They all have a microwave, a refrigerator, and a stove. BBQ is also available for those who want. Bragdavellir is a short distance from a local town, Djupivogur, offering necessary service f.ex. bank, supermarket, health clinic and so on. The restaurant is open during the summer months. Bragdavellir is a peaceful place, perfect for unwinding and breathing in clean, Icelandic air.  Bragdavellir Barn Restaurant At Bragdavellir in Hamarsfjordur, east Iceland, you can find a friendly family-owned restaurant. It is located in an old Barn and cowshed that has been renovated into a bistro restaurant offering a simple but good menu with an emphasis on local ingredients. Barn restaurant has a cozy atmosphere that makes you forget about everyday worries and gives you a chance to relax and unwind. Approx 20min walk from the restaurant is a beautiful waterfall named Snædalsfoss which is an easy hike to walk to. Along the way, you might run into our ducks, chickens, horses or even sheep. Bragðavellir Cottages
Bragdavellir Cottages is a family-owned company which offers accommodation in cosy cottages. We are located in the countryside close to the ring road in East Iceland. We are approximately 10 mins drive from the town of Djúpivogur where you can find all necessary services, such as a supermarket, swimming pool, restaurants and coffee shops. Bragðavellir Cottages offer three types of cottages, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and a holiday home, suitable for larger groups or families.

Finnsstaðir
Finnsstaðir is a family-run business located about four minutes away from the town Egilsstaðir.  Finnsstaðir offers a few things, open all year round. Guesthouse to rent, horse rental, and the horse stable is always open between 10:00 – 17:00 for a short guided tour through the stable to see the horses, take pictures and meet the locals, but we recommend booking the tour with a bit of notice. From 15. may until 15. September, the petting zoo is open.  Finnsstaðir horse rental offers horses with great temperament and clean beated tölt. The tölt is a natural, fluid gait of the Icelandic horse. Its extraordinarily smooth four-beat gait, which allows the rider an almost bounce-free ride. In Finnsstaðir, you ride out in a small private group with a local guide. Most of the riding tours are about one hour, and the owner‘s goal is to keep everyone safe, give all the guests a good experience and memories to keep as long as you live. Longer trips with experienced riders could be available, but just contact Finnsstaðir and ask for availability. On the farm is a big house to rent with three bedrooms and beds for six people. There are two bathrooms and a hot tub on the platform with a great view. The house is spacious and equipped with all standard modern comfort. Washing machine and dryer, the wifi in the house is very strong, and there is a kitchen to cook in. Finnsstaðir petting zoo is open from 10:00-17:00 every day from 15. may until 15.September. All year round, there are chickens and ducks on the farm and, of course, horses, but during the summertime, it is possible to visit and get to know lambs, calves, pigs, ducklings, rabbits, and guinea pigs.  The animals at Finnsstaðir love people, especially children from all parts of the world.
