Finnsstaðir is a family-run business located just five minutes from the town of Egilsstaðir. Finnsstaðir offers a range of services, including riding tours, accommodation and a camp ground. Horseback riding is at the heart of Finnsstaðir’s offerings. The farm provides well-trained Icelandic horses known for their excellent temperament and clear, well-beated tölt. The tölt is a natural gait unique to the Icelandic horse, characterized by its smooth, four-beat rhythm that allows for a comfortable, nearly bounce-free riding experience. All riding tours are conducted in small, private groups and led by a knowledgeable local guide. Standard tours typically last between one and two hours, with a strong focus on safety, enjoyment, and creating lasting memories for every guest. Longer tours may be arranged for experienced riders upon request, subject to availability. Accommodation at Finnsstaðir includes a spacious main house, remote private house and a campground. The main house features three bedrooms and comfortably accommodates up to six guests. It includes two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and all modern amenities such as a washing machine, dryer, and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. Guests can also enjoy a private outdoor hot tub situated on a platform with scenic views of the surrounding landscape. In addition to the main house, Finnsstaðir offers another house, a more remote guesthouse for those seeking greater privacy. We also offer other experiences at our farm such as stable visits, paddock rides and tasting of icelandic treats and pastries.

Skorrahestar offers short and long horse riding tours as well as hiking tours in the fjords by the Atlantic Ocean. We are located in Nordfjördur on the east coast of Iceland where we have our farm Skorrastadur for many years now. Here visitors can connect with nature, country life, folklore, and the unique Icelandic horse. Hiking and riding paths are chosen carefully to create lasting impressions with our visitors. Hotel Staðarborg is an accommodating and recent hotel with 30 rooms, located in the heartland of eastern Iceland in the valley Breiðdalur. The hotel is by the Ring road no 1, some 625 km. from Reykjavík and 100 km from Seyðisfjörður. This makes it a suitable resting place for those traveling on the ferry Norraena. Recreational opportunities for traveler abound in this beautiful area Staðarborg opened in June 2000. It is situated in the eastern part of Iceland, in the valley Breiðdalur, between Egilsstaðir and Höfn. The building is a former schoolhouse which has now been thoroughly renovated. The hotel can accommodate 54 people in 30 spacious rooms complete with private facilities and television.The hotel restaurant offers meals a la carte, refreshments are available throughout the day. The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell is located 17 km. south of Egilsstaðir, by highway 95. When driving over the road called Öxi (which is the shortest route) or Breiðdalsheiði, the roads lie between Höfn and Egilsstaðir. At our facilities we offer many different types of accomodations, cottages, rooms or at our campsite. We also offer horseriding tours through Sandfell‘s forest and nearby. Many lovely hiking trails are in the area. Our accomodations are close to all of the major tourist-attractions in the Eastern Fjords. The travel service at Stóra-Sandfell has been run by the same family for 30 years and combines experience with eastern hospitality. We put emphasis on having a good and personal contact with our all guests and want to make sure they will be able to enjoy themselves in a beautiful and relaxing enviroment, surrounded by Icelandic nature. We do offer 10 cottages, of different types, but all are build for 2-4 persons. All of them do have a private kitchenette and access to a gas grill. Six of the cottages have private bathrooms but the other four share a bathhouse together. The 3 rooms each have a private enterence and a small private bathroom. All rooms share a kitchen and all have access to a gas grill. The campsite is surounded by the old birch forest and is ideal for families or induviduals with tents or campers. On the site there are dining benches, making it comfortable to eat outside in the nature. A small stream goes through the campsite and is perfect for the younger members of the family to make a splash in. In the restrooms we have toilets, showers and outdoor sinks with cold and hot water. All of the horseriding tours are monitored by a guide. We always try to make sure we find a horse that suits each and every rider well. Before each trip we go over all safety rules and do some practice rounds inside a fence. There is no fixed time for the riding tours, so all tours are planned individually. The minimum number of riders is 2 for each trip and the maximum is 10 riders. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who once called this remote valley home. The center offers unique accommodation, a relaxing spa and a restaurant serving freshly prepared traditional Icelandic food. Visitors can enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks and dinner in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Lunch features traditional Icelandic lamb soup, served alongside the center’s popular homemade cake buffet. For those looking to explore the surrounding landscape, the Wilderness Center offers a range of outdoor experiences. Join a guided hike to an abandoned farm, follow the scenic Waterfall Trail where you can see a traditional cable bridge, explore the wilderness on horseback, or choose a tailor-made adventure for a more personal experience. The Wilderness Center is open year-round for accommodation, the museum and the spa. During the high season, from 15 May to 30 September, selected activities are available daily.
