The Color Run is not an ordinary race but an incomparable experience and perfect family entertainment that comes to Egilsstaðir for the first time on Saturday, 7 August.
Color + Run = Celebration!
It's not about running 5 kilometers in the shortest time possible, but running at the speed you feel is appropriate and fun. The Color Run is not a race but a run where thousands of participants have a fantastic time while they are covered in color from head to toe. At the end of each kilometer, you run through a color station with music, entertainment, and a new color. There is a finish festival at the finish line where the color splendor will be an unforgettable experience. This will be the happiest and most fun 5 kilometers of the summer!
Everyone runs along
The Color Run is for everyone, from 2 years olds to 80 years olds (even 102 years olds). Some run to start a better lifestyle in a fun way, while others run to have fun with their friends. Participants can run alone or in small groups, and some run for a specific purpose. So whether you are an old jogger or an accomplished athlete, The Color Run will be the most memorable and colorful 5km of your life!
This is how the run works
As a color runner in The Color Run, you, along with thousands of other participants, will be colored from head to toe with every kilometer you complete. In each color gate, you will be greeted with music, entertainment, and a new color.
It's not about finishing the race in the shortest time possible, but having fun and enjoy participating. No one will win the race because there is no time trial. On the contrary, we encourage everyone to take the time to go through the entire color scheme and enjoy the experience.
With just two rules, anyone can join The Color Run:
- You should be in a white shirt when you start!
- You will be a color bomb when you reach the finish line!
In the end, there will be an epic color party, entertainment program, fun, and atmosphere in front of the stage.
Are you ready for the happiest 5 kilometers of your life?
The Color Run was the first color race and was first held in 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. The American Travis Snyder started this race to encourage both professional and amateur runners to run together for fun. The race has been a triumphant journey worldwide as it is a unique family event held in more than 40 countries, and two million people have participated. Today, this is the most extensive series of events in the world, and The Color Run has become a gigantic event.
The race was first held in Iceland in 2015 and was sold out with about 10,000 participants, and a year later, it was sold out again with 12,000 participants in the most colorful event of the year. The Color Run in Reykjavík was still sold out in 2017.
Each year there is a specific theme in the color race. In 2015 the theme was Shine; in 2016 it was Tropicolor, Dream Tour in 2017, Hero Tour in 2018, Love Tour to Iceland 2019, and the theme of 2021 is magic in The Color Run Make Magic Tour.
Note that the run is free for children born in 2013 and later if accompanied by an adult.
