Occupation Day will be celebrated at the Wartime Museum on Saturday, July 5.
To mark the occasion, entry to the museum is free, and chocolate cake will be served.

14:00 – Þóroddur Helgason leads a historical walk from Molinn up to the museum.
Stories from the occupation and town history will be told. A pleasant and informative walk for people of all ages.

14:45 – Artist Marc Alexander Fulchini premieres the video art piece Occupation in the cinema barracks (Bíóbragginn).
15:00 – Mayor Jóna Árný Þórðardóttir gives a speech.
15:10 – Representatives of the municipality present the status of the museum’s restoration and future plans in Bragginn.
15:30 – Historian Gauti Páll Jónsson tells the story of Ásmundur Elíasson from Mjóifjörður and other Icelanders who died due to the military presence, in Bragginn.
