Theremin is one of the most fascinating instruments ever invented and the only one played without physical contact. Sound is created through electromagnetic waves, controlled by the performer’s hand movements around two antennas. Invented in 1920, it still remains a rare presence on concert stages, making every performance a true attraction.
“Invisible Strings” is a distinctive musical project by two internationally acclaimed artists: thereminist Thorwald Jørgensen and guitarist Josip Dragnić. The duo has already captivated audiences across Europe, performing in Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro and Portugal. Their program features arrangements of works by famous composers such as Manuel de Falla, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Astor Piazzolla, alongside ambient and contemporary pieces written specifically for this unique ensemble.
In some of those pieces, theremin resembles the human voice; in others, it echoes the sound of a cello or violin. Paired with the guitar, these two instruments create a captivating interplay—blending rich harmonies on the six-string guitar with a melodic line performed by the theremin on its “invisible string”.
