Join us at Ströndin Studio for a cozy evening with local photographer Garðar Bachmann Þórðarson and book designer João Linneu.
João Linneu will introduce photo book concept and design, and share examples of both traditional and experimental photo books. Through this presentation, we will discuss the current climate of photo book publishing in Iceland.
João is a Brazilian born designer, photographer and book publisher, who is currently based in Reykjavík, Iceland. He is co-founder of VOID, an independent publishing house dedicated to photography books and education. As an independent designer, João runs Kakkalakki design studio with Fernanda Fajardo.
Garðar Bachmann will present his recent publication, a cook book titled “Brak og Brestir: Matur og menn um borð í togarnum Gullveri Ns 12.” His ingenious book combines documentary landscape and portraiture with food photography.
Garðar is a chef and runs Skaftfell Bistro in Seyðisfjörður. His main passion is food, but he is also loves art and photography. His talk will flow between Icelandic and English.
